I recently posted a picture of this completed project on my Instagram story and immediately got such a positive response! I found the idea for this project on Pinterest a few weeks ago, and finally made some time to try it this weekend. I'm sooo happy with the end result, it turned out even better than I was hoping. The materials were cheap, and the entire project from start to finish took me no longer than 2 hours. Follow my simple step-by-step guide to create your own little flip calendar--the perfect addition to your workspace or bedside table.

Step 1:
You will need:
-a small, open-faced wooden box (Michaels, 6$)
-spray paint (in whatever colour you want, I chose white because i'm boring) (Home Hardware, 7$)
-1 sheet of scrapbook paper (Michaels, $3)
-a pack of plain gift-tags (100 pack Amazon, $4)
-a few different colours of craft paint (Michaels, $3)
-a package of screw hooks (Home Hardware, $2)
-optional: stencils (Michaels, $6)

Step 2:
The box will need at least 2 coats of spray paint, so start with this. While you wait for the first layer of spray paint to dry start designing the gift tags. I decided to buy letter stencils and i'm super happy with the way the tags turned out as a result. Be creative with this step, I've seen so many different variations of similar DIY calendars online, so put your own stamp on it and make it unique in some way!
Step 3:
Spray paint the box one more time or until coating looks even.
Step 4:
Once the spray paint has dried you can attach the backing to the box. Micheal's had a pretty great selection of prints, ranging anywhere from .99c to $4. Make sure you carefully measure out how much you need before you start cutting. Once you have your desired size, reinforce it with a bit of glue and stick it to the back wall of the box.
Step 5:
Screw in the hooks. Make sure you measure out the placement for each before you attach them. The wood should be soft enough to be able to do this by hand, without a drill.
Step 6:
Hang the gift tags, and add any finishing touches to your calendar!
